THE JOURNEY
Our beginnings were made long before we ever
set a stake known as the Christian Life Center into the
ground. For some, the beginning was in Bible College,
others may have experienced their beginning in a revival
in Ft. Worth, and some may have seen the start in
a crowded living room, or in another state.
The real beginnings of Christian Life Center actually came when an Australian family was called by God to become missionaries to America. After many years of service and preparation at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia, Dr. John King and his wife, Rebecca King, spent years traveling between nations, from church to church. And then, God moved.
In 2004 at a church in Ft. Worth, God began to move in a miraculous way. People were healed. Deaf ears could hear, the lame could walk, and cancers were no more. What started off as a single service, turned into ten weeks of miracles.
However, our pastor’s vision was not of a one-time
revival in a single church. It is of a world-wide revolution,
of turning people’s hearts toward Christ. He
built on this revival, and began teaching others how
the New-Testament church operated. The first meetings
were held in a local hotel conference room to only
a few. As interest grew, our pastor opened up his home
twice a month.
These meetings started off as a time of teaching and fellowship, not much different than our Wednesday
nights today.
After six months, we had filled that living room.
There was no room to move around, and parking was
always an event. That’s when we decided we needed
a bigger place, so we rented a community center in
Keller. While it served its purpose, we didn’t quite have
a place we could call our own.
In October of 2005, we moved into a small building
on the corner of a building supplies parking lot. By this
time we were meeting once a week, and had begun to
incorporate worship into the service. We were slowly
becoming a church.
In April of 2006, we had our first Sunday evening
service, and in August, we, as leadership, made a commitment
to building the church.
April of 2007 saw the next step in the beginnings of
our church. We had grown. We were too big to fit in
that little building. It was time for us to move into a
bigger place.
And that’s where we are now. Not only have we
moved into this place, but we have built it; not the
structure, but we made this place a church where offices once stood. We have made the grounds beautiful,
something we can all be proud of. We have poured ourselves
into the making of this church.
Over the last four years, we’ve seen new life. We’ve seen new families come together. We’ve seen friends grieve over the loss of loved ones. But most of all, we’ve seen God rest here. We’ve seen His hand over us, guiding us to where we are now, and where we will go from here.
Ten years from now, when we are
thousands of people in multiple locations, we can look
back on our humble beginnings and see that God has
been with us, been our focus, every step of the way.
